Collection: Yafa Collection

Yafa, once a bustling port city on the Mediterranean coast, served as southern Palestine’s main port and a vital hub for trade during the 19th and early 20th centuries. Its strategic location made it a key entry point for European pilgrims and tourists visiting the Holy Land.

Beit Dajan, a historic village situated on the road between Yafa and Ramleh, was renowned for its distinctive village dress style, featuring intricate cypress tree patterns. Sadly, like many Palestinian villages, Beit Dajan was ethnically cleansed in 1948, leading to the displacement of its inhabitants.

Today, the lands of Yafa and Beit Dajan bear witness to the enduring legacy of the Palestinian Nakba. Yafa has been “absorbed” into the city of Tel Aviv, and Beit Dajan’s former residents remain scattered across the Palestinian diaspora, their village erased from the landscape.
