The Inspirations Behind My Latest Collections

Yafa Collection

Yafa, a once-thriving port city on the Mediterranean coast, was a crucial trade hub for southern Palestine and a gateway for European pilgrims and tourists in the 19th and early 20th centuries. Nearby Beit Dajan, known for its distinctive village dress adorned with cypress tree patterns, was also an integral part of this vibrant region. Unfortunately, both Yafa and Beit Dajan were impacted by the events of 1948, leading to displacement and the erasure of these communities from the landscape.

The Yafa Collection celebrates the spirit of spring with a vibrant palette of greens in various hues and tones. This collection introduces a stunning blend of three color schemes: honey opal, sea foam, and ombre. Each piece features intricate Palestinian cross-stitch patterns inspired by Yafa, embodying both elegance and the rich cultural heritage of the region.

Esdud Collection

Esdud was a Palestinian village situated along the southern Mediterranean coast, known for its strategic location and rich land. By 1945, it had a population of 4,910 and was renowned for its banana cultivation and cereal crops. The Nakba in 1948 led to the displacement of its inhabitants, marking a profound historical shift.

The Esdud Collection is inspired by the themes of winter, reflecting a time for introspection and reconnection with one’s essence. This collection embraces a palette of serene neutral colors, symbolizing purity and self-discovery, and draws influence from the Pantone Fashion Color Trend Report Autumn/Winter 2023-2024 New Classics. The jewelry features designs that resonate with the essence of these colors and the spirit of the season.

Ramallah Collection

Inspired by Ramallah, known as "The Bride of the Summer Resorts," this collection reflects the region's fertile land and scenic beauty. The name "Ramallah," meaning "Hill of God," pays homage to its rich heritage of olive groves and fruit orchards. Renowned for their intricately embroidered linen dresses and iconic white shawls, Ramallah's women established cooperatives in the 1950s to preserve and share their embroidery traditions.

The first collection introduced, the Ramallah Collection, is influenced by the London Fashion Week Spring/Summer 2023 color schemes. It features a sophisticated palette of classic navy blue and electric blue, complemented by deep reds and soft pinks, alongside neutral shades of gray and beige. These colors evoke a sense of summer vibrance while maintaining timeless elegance and softness. All patterns on the bracelets and earrings incorporate designs from Ramallah’s traditional embroidery.

The Creative Process: From Concept to Creation

Concept Development

Every collection at Asherah Jewellery starts with a spark of inspiration. I brainstorm and sketch initial ideas, creating mood boards that reflect the themes and emotions I wish to convey. This phase is crucial for laying the groundwork and ensuring a cohesive vision for the collection.

Material Selection

Selecting the right materials is vital to bringing my designs to life. I prioritize ethically sourced gemstones and sustainable metals, ensuring that each piece not only looks stunning but also aligns with my commitment to environmental responsibility. The chosen materials, including recycled silver, recycled gold-filled, and beads, are meticulously examined for quality and durability.

Craftsmanship

The final step in the creative process is the crafting of the jewellery. My skilled artisans use a blend of traditional techniques and modern technology to create each piece. The attention to detail and dedication to perfection are evident in the exquisite craftsmanship of my jewellery.
